Milo v.1.0.0 Patch is now LIVE!


Milo (Alpha v1.0.0) is now LIVE. In addition to releasing a patch today, I have also started a short giveaway period for Milo, to reach more people. It will be 100% off for two days Also, everyone who has purchased the game thus far can now request their Steam key on the itch.io page, and this will give you access to the Steam release of Milo (online multiplayer) that is scheduled for June, 2024

Patch Notes: 

o Pistol now has infinite ammo 
o Rats will now eat bodies and recover items for their own e.g. coins, ammo, tickets, and grenades o Mystery Machine added
o Garand and Thompson can be purchased at random at the Mystery Machine
o Crouching has been removed o Zombie speed and health has been adjusted and scales throughout game
o Knifing zombies will not briefly stun them.
o Lots of cosmetic UI visuals and sounds have been added.
o All 'suicide-y' content has been removed until I can find a way to really fit into the experience, or scrap it entirely. o Performance issues around dead bodies and FX have been improved.
o Players now start will 12 rats by default, with the ability to collect more permanent rats through purchases at the 'Traang' store.
o Weapon accuracy/recoil/damage has been reworked o Grenade tosses are less awkward, the blast timer has been shortened, and the blast effect has been scaled up to better visualize the blast radius.
o Tutorial has mostly minor changes that reduce confusion etc.
o When you are damaged it is much more obvious now as it shows a bright effect on the screen that also indicates the direction the damage came from.
o ADS has been removed entirely. Not sure if that is coming back to be honest...
o Knife attack/grenade/sprint should properly interact as to not cancel each other and cause problems.
o The amount of food that each individual rat eats is now saved. Rats have unique names and data that is specific to them.
o Rats now have an ability system component/capacity to many more things on behalf of their player owner.
o Horrible bug that caused some sounds to play multiple times has been fixed.
o Rats now scurry briefly when you toggle their behavior.
o Brief UI notifications about stuff have been added. o Dynamic crosshairs have been disabled until Satan gets tired of torturing me.
o Added a auto-escape(extract) countdown timer cosmetic so that people (like me) who forget to start saving their tickets will be nudged into starting it. You can pause and/or disable the timer by shooting the box.
o The 'Extraction machine thingy' has now been replaced by the 'Cream Machine'.
o New UI indicators for interactables in Milo that are a 'work in progress' that contain some supplemental information.
 
Rough Around The Edges
o Unfortunately I have not found a decent solution to freeze that occurs when leaving the game paused. For the time being, the game cannot be paused. I'm going to keep working towards a solution and release a patch once I figure it out.
o I also had to change the save file system and it broke all the save files from the previous patch. So now the game will replace your old one with a fresh one. I take this very seriously and I'd like to avoid this in the future and so I'm going to do my best to do exactly that.

In addition to this:
o I've worked on multiplayer stuff and just bringing stuff up to speed.
o Currently I'm preparing the Steam store page for Milo which is going to release in June 2024
o Added the ability for owners of Milo on itch.io to claim a Steam key to get access to the 2024 release without paying for it twice. Thank you all for playing 'Milo'
